Process over scale: the Fauzen bet
By Centaury Research
The dominant strategy for better models has been simple: make them bigger. It works, but it's expensive — in GPUs, in latency, in cost per answer. Fauzen is our bet that there's another axis.
Think, then answer
A compact model that plans, reasons in steps, and verifies its own work before answering can match much larger models on problems that reward thinking over recall. The parameters store knowledge; the process is what turns knowledge into a correct answer.
Spend the compute where it changes the outcome — on the hard problems, in the reasoning loop — instead of burning it on every token of every request.
An honest note on numbers
Fauzen is research, not a product. The comparisons you'll see on our site today are illustrative placeholders, clearly labeled as mock. We won't dress a placeholder up as a benchmark. When we publish real numbers, they'll be reproducible — that's the whole point of doing the research.
